Microsoft Selects Blueforce for Connected Military Command Vehicle
General Stanley A. McChrystal (RET) will likely go down in history as a fundamental change agent in how we think about and organize to counter a very different 21st century threat model. His success in the US Special Operations Command (SOCOM) was rooted in seeing our enemies as decentralized and autonomous fighting forces. They are not bound by treaty nor institutional rules of engagement, but by ideology. To counter an asymmetric enemy, the future of warfare must focus on dispersed yet integrated operations, nonlinear tactics, networking, and small autonomous units operating independently.
Network-centric operational models (optimized for asymmetry) embrace the notion that centralized decision-making grinds the machine to a halt. The Blueforce product platform was built and optimized to enable and adapt to continuously-evolving, complex “networks†of people, devices, and information services interconnected by communications networks to provide superior ground truth intelligence needed to empower decision makers. Core to this is moving actionable decision data to the commander at the tactical edge using vertical AND horizontal information flows from cloud, but also from dismounts on the ground to enable effective decentralized command.
Blueforce is proud to announce that Microsoft has selected BlueforceTACTICAL, BlueforceEDGE, and BlueforceCOMMAND as the shared situational awareness and command and control operations platform for the Microsoft Connected Military Command vehicle. Similar to the Microsoft Connected Police Command vehicle, the Blueforce platform is used to track and fuse body worn sensors from dismounted personnel, but also embrace and extend autonomous ISR platforms like UAS/UAV, robotics, and unattended ground sensors. The system also extends Blueforce edge intelligence and allows it to fuse with Azure IoT stream analytics allowing for real-time application of machine learning and AI in addition to imagery and video analytics. The Microsoft connected vehicle vision is the very definition of enabling decentralized command: enable all channel access to deployed human and sensor assets and display on a radpily adaptable single pane of glass C2 common operating picture: BlueforceCOMMAND.
