1. Introduction
The BlueforceEDGE Discovery Service plugin enables an agency, department, or other to publish BASIC information (JabberID, location, and any sensor types) about subscribed Blueforce users to a KML file on a periodic interval.  This file may then be shared with those with a “need to knowâ€.  The KML file may then be overlayed on BlueforceCOMMAND Center as a layer that allows the commander or manager to quickly identify those that are not subscribed to, but are nearby should I need specific expertise, competencies, or additional capacity.
The plugin provides a “Realm†that results in a KML feed.  Think of a Realm as a compartment of specific available endpoints that is constructed based on subscribers to the JabberID associated with the plugin.  A Realm could be all of my K9 units, or my bomb techs.  It could also be an entire fire department which extends its KML file to another fire department during an inter-agency response.
Macro level steps are as follows:
- Step 1: Ensure you have everything you need as described in System Requirements section of this guide.
- Step 2: Ensure that your Discovery Service plugin is activated (if not activated, contact Blueforce Sales at 877-960-0204)
- Step 3: Create an EDGE Endpoint
- Step 4: Click on Discovery Service tab in EDGE
- Step 5: Follow the configuration directions outlined in this guide
